Da Liu Ren (大六壬) - The Most Precise Chinese Divination

Da Liu Ren (大六壬) is considered the most precise and most difficult of all Chinese divination systems. It uses the 12 earthly branches combined with the date and time to create an incredibly detailed divination chart. Historically reserved for emperors and high officials for matters of national importance.

What is Da Liu Ren

Da Liu Ren means Great Six Ren, named after the six earthly branches associated with the water element. The system uses 12 earthly branches arranged in a complex chart combined with the specific date and time of the question. Each element of the chart carries multiple layers of meaning, making the reading exceptionally precise but extraordinarily difficult to master.

Why It Is Considered Supreme

Among the three major Chinese divination systems - Liu Yao, Qi Men Dun Jia and Da Liu Ren - Da Liu Ren is traditionally ranked first. Liu Yao is most practical and widely used. Qi Men Dun Jia is most strategic. Da Liu Ren is most precise. The level of detail in a Da Liu Ren reading is unmatched. It can answer not just yes or no, but the exact nature, timing, direction and outcome of an event.

The Structure

The Da Liu Ren chart consists of multiple layers: the Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch of the question time, the Twelve Generals (十二将), the Four课 (Si Ke - four lessons), the Three Transmissions (三传 - three propagations) and the various auxiliary factors. Each layer adds information. Together they create a reading of extraordinary depth and precision.

The Twelve Generals (十二将)

Da Liu Ren uses twelve celestial generals: Zhu Que ( Vermilion Bird), Teng She (Flying Serpent), Tai Yin (Great Yin), Liu He (Six Harmony), Jin Gong (Heavenly Net), Bai Hu (White Tiger), Xuan Wu (Black Tortoise), Zhi Fu (Sky General), Qian De (Fortune), Long De (Dragon Virtue), Bai She (White Snake), Tai Yang (Great Sun). Each general carries a specific meaning and modifies the reading.

When to Use Da Liu Ren

Da Liu Ren is best reserved for questions of the highest importance: major business decisions, legal cases, health crises, marriage questions, property transactions and any decision where precision is critical. For everyday questions, Liu Yao or Plum Blossom is more practical. For strategic timing and direction, Qi Men Dun Jia is superior. Da Liu Ren is the ultimate precision tool.

"The three great arts each have their domain. Liu Yao for the practical. Qi Men for the strategic. Da Liu Ren for the critical."
