What is Ming Shu

Ming Shu (命术) is the art of destiny calculation. It uses birth data to map out a persons life trajectory, fortune cycles, character patterns and potential. It answers the fundamental question: what is written in the stars?

Bazi (子平八字)

Bazi means Eight Characters. Each person has four pillars of birth: Year, Month, Day and Hour. Each pillar contains two characters (a heavenly stem and an earthly branch), totaling eight. These eight characters encode the full pattern of a life. The system analyzes how the five elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) interact within these characters. The Day Master element is the core identity. All other elements are judged in relation to it.

Bazi is considered the most comprehensive system in Chinese metaphysics. Its theoretical framework is vast, incorporating luck cycles, yearly flows, element balance and the Ten Gods system. Traditional practitioners study it for decades before mastery.

Zi Wei Dou Shu (紫微斗数)

Zi Wei Dou Shu maps the 14 major celestial stars and over 100 minor stars across 12 life palaces. Unlike Bazi which focuses on elements, Zi Wei maps cosmic archetypes. Each star represents a force: leadership, wealth, destruction, communication, passion. The palaces they fall into determine how those forces express in life.

Zi Wei is known as the Imperial Art (帝王之学) because emperors used it to read the destiny of candidates for high office. It is exceptionally strong at revealing character depth and life event timing.

Blind Sect (盲派命理)

Blind Sect Bazi is an oral tradition passed down through blind practitioners for centuries. It emphasizes pattern recognition, mnemonic formulas and intuitive reading over textbook theory. Blind Sect practitioners are known for their practical accuracy and ability to read charts with minimal calculation. Their methods remain unique and difficult to learn from books alone.

When to Use Ming Shu

Life direction questions, career choices, marriage timing, wealth cycles, health patterns. Ming Shu gives the broadest picture of a life. It is the art of understanding the whole journey.
